By
involving faculty, staff, parents, children and alumni in
creating an overall long-range campus plan we have been
able to preserve the wooded setting while providing much
needed modernization to two 40 year old classroom buildings.
Of importance to the planning and design process were sustainability,
energy and resource efficiency, feng shui, and protection
of resident wildlife both during and after construction.
Improvements include new metal roofing, lighting. HVAC,
windows and other interior work to bring the structures
into compliance with current seismic and energy requirements
while maintaining the character and culture of the school.
This project was presented an award by Metal
Architecture Magazine and The Metal Construction Association
in 2004.
